Eastern Gaels would like to wish all of our members, friends and everyone in East Meath a happy and peaceful Easter.
Hopefully you all get a good rest … and maybe an Easter egg or two!
We continue to make excellent progress as a fledgling club but unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, Eastern Gaels have yet to take to the playing pitch for our competitive debut.
Eastern Gaels will continue to work through the issues and hope to be in a position to do what we have been mandated to do as soon as possible - to provide additional playing capacity for people in East Meath.
With 28,000 people in the area, a figure that will rise to nearer 40,000 by the end of this decade, the need for Eastern Gaels has never been more clear.
We are very proud of what we have achieved so far, against the odds.
• Recognised as a viable and sustainable second club in East Meath
• Affiliated after a vote by the Meath Management Committee and Clubs
• Becoming the first new GAA club in Meath in 58 years and proudly, Ireland’s newest club
• Having our Ladies section affiliated with Meath LGFA
• In just a few short months effectively doubling much-needed Gaelic playing facilities in East Meath
• Encouraging a number of young people in the area to come back to playing GAA - many after being away from our games for many years
• Uniquely, providing an academy for children in the area to play football and hurling/camogie.
Rome wasn’t built in a day but make no mistake Eastern Gaels are here for the long-term. We are delighted to have made such a lot of progress and are hugely heartened by our local engagement and encouragement.
Our Little Stars Academy will be up in running on 23 April and hopefully our teams will be running out in the Eastern Gaels’ green, white and gold before long!
Once Again Happy Easter to you all!
