Earlier this year Eastern Gaels were delighted to be chosen as one of just 23 clubs to host the 2026 LGFA Gaelic4Girls (G4G) programme, sponsored by Glenveagh Homes.  G4G is a 10-week programme incorporating coaching sessions with fun non-competitive blitzes aimed at increasing participation in Ladies Gaelic Football.

The programme is perfect for beginners and girls who want to be part of a team and is all about building confidence, developing skills and having fun ... and that is exactly what happened at Páirc Réalt na Mara.

Commencing on 6 March last, G4G at Eastern Gaels was a resounding success - so much so that it did not stop there! The girls have continued to enjoy learning to play Gaelic games each Friday evening and it is now hoped to move on to playing matches as the girls skills and confidence progress further.

Our club was also delighted to be visited by Meath LGFA captain and G4G Ambassador Niamh Gallogly on 8 May.  Niamh was a huge hit with the girls and everyone had a fantastic evening.

As part of the visit a promotional video was recorded to encourage young girls all over the country to participate in the Gaelic games.  See https://www.thejournal.ie/gaelic4girls-2-7055709-Jun2026/

Eastern Gaels can heartily recommend the programme.  It was a fantastic experience for the girls, the coaches, the parents and the club.  As Emilia said,  "It’s all fun and games and learning all together.  Girls can do everything boys can, but just like ten times better!”
