It has been a really hectic four weeks since Eastern Gaels became the newest GAA club in Meath. We are working hard to get things in order and get on to the playing field as soon as practical. We are busily registering players and making sure that things like insurance, membership and other requirements are in order.
Our new gear is ordered and will be ready in the next week or so and we would sincerely like to thank Nigel Hayes of HQ Electrical for his generous sponsorship in this regard. We would also like to thank Tara McDonnell Murphy for her generous contribution which is greatly appreciated. Start-up costs are quite challenging so if you or your company would like to get involved we would be delighted to explore what are exciting sponsorship opportunities with you.
We have managed to get a couple of training sessions organised so that the players can get acquainted with one another.
Unfortunately the games against Cortown and Slane have come a little too quickly for us, with apologies to both clubs. But competitive action is not far away and we hope to make our historic debut against Boardsmill in the Meath All County League Division 3B later this month.
Our Ladies section is awaiting affiliation with the Meath LGFA and we are hopeful that we will have the green light on this in the next week or so.
We hope to commence our Academy in April and will update you with further details in the coming weeks. From small acorns ...
Eastern Gaels are extremely excited as history beckons. It has been a whirlwind few months getting to this point and we know that the hard work is only beginning. But it will be a hugely emotional and proud moment when our teams take to the field in the green, white and gold. We are determined to contribute positively, constructively and sportingly to Meath GAA.
We are heartened by the welcome and support from the community here in East Meath. We are delighted to be bringing much needed sport participation capacity as well as facilities to the area. We would like to thank everyone for the goodwill messages - from Meath and beyond, including from an Uachtarán, Larry McCarthy.
Eastern Gaels are so proud to be the newest members of Cumann Lúthchleas Gael and look forward to growing our membership substantially in the years ahead.
The journey is about to begin ... so if you want to join this exciting adventure just contact us on any of our social media platforms detailed on this site.
